“Tissage” – Woven Series, is an effort to address the environmental impact on furniture design and manufacturing, creating sustainable furniture, inspired by the mid-century modern era.
We started the series with the Oru lounge chair. This collection’s handcrafted teakwood frame which is naturally seasoned and hand-woven cane has a simplistic beauty. The fine craftsmanship and exceptional detail, are present from every angle.
ORU is inspired by the simplicity and sleekness of the mid-century modern era. The entire chair is hand-crafted from reclaimed teakwood and woven in natural cane with a “Box weave” pattern. The armrest flairs out to make space for the arm to rest comfortably on it. The idea behind was to stay away from engineered materials and create a more sustainable design. The shapes and forms are inspired by post-modernism and ergonomics are adapted for our Indian needs.
