Oru

“Tissage” – Woven Series, is an effort to address the environmental impact on furniture design and manufacturing, creating sustainable furniture, inspired by the mid-century modern era.

We started the series with the Oru lounge chair. This collection’s handcrafted natural wood frame and hand-woven cane have a simplistic beauty. The fine craftsmanship and exceptional detail, are present from every angle.

ORU is inspired by the simplicity and sleekness of the mid-century modern era. The entire chair is hand-crafted from natural wood and woven in natural cane with a “Box weave” pattern. The armrest flairs out to make space for the arm to rest comfortably on it. The idea behind this was to stay away from engineered materials and create a more sustainable design. The shapes and forms are inspired by post-modernism and ergonomics are adapted for our Indian needs.
